Ramaz Kukuladze: Silknet is striving for strengthening its leading position in the telecommunications industry through maximum orientation on consumer interests Silknet has a short history of operation in the telecommunication market of Georgia.

The company was founded by SJC United Telecom, LLC Wanex and LLC Adjara Electrokavshiri with the clear aim of consolidating the business and improving the service quality.

Ramaz Kukuladze, deputy CEO of Silknet, told GBW the company is working towards strengthening its leading position in the telecommunications industry through maximum orientation on consumer interests and offering a wide range of new and innovative products and services.

Silknet has started actively developing the optical-fiber network, which provides the fastest, most stable and reliable internet connection in Tbilisi and all over Georgia. At this time, Silknet is already providing a fiber optic internet to various districts of Tbilisi, including Vake, Vera, Saburtalo, Dighomi. The company expanding its fiber optic infrastructure in Tbilisi and expects to have a much wider coverage area in the coming weeks.

Currently, a considerable technical work is being carried out in various parts of Tbilisi in order to upgrade the company infrastructure and acquire over 10,000 Silk TV subscribers”, Ramaz Kukuladze said.

Ramaz Kukuladze: “We have chosen product names as part of the branding process. SILK-branded products are those which are using a fiber optic technology such as Silk TV, Silk Internet, Silk Phone (VOIP). At the same time, we will continue offering the following services under the name of Silknet: home telephone, wireless telephone (CDMA WLL), internet (DSL technology), internation connection 8-16 and IP television (DSL technology).

The Product Development team is focused on introducing innovative and market-oriented products and services.
In June 2010, “Silknet” launched a new-generation interactive television Silk TV. The interactive television is stands out from existing television service providers by its high-quality display (HD), interactivity of TV channels (pausing, rewinding, video library and other interactive services), over 100 fully licensed channels, along with features such as parental control, individual profiles and many other interesting functions. Additionally, Silk TV provides electronic program guide (EPG), which allows viewers to see what programs have already been shown on each channel and what’s to come. In the coming months, Silk TV will offer many new interactive services such as ‘you balance update’, currency exchange and weather update, as well as video games, karaoke, social network and internet in your TV (Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, youtube).

Silknet also plans to offer third-generation wireless mobile service (CDMA), which will be very competitively priced, offer a higher quality mobile service compared to GSM and is safer to the environment.
