A criminal case was instituted over the bomb blast in the Adler district of Sochi, a source in the investigation department in the Krasnodar territory told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

An unidentified explosive device exploded at about 2 a.m. Moscow time on Wednesday. The blast killed a 24-year-old Taganrog resident, who arrived in Sochi to work at a construction site, and injured a 49-year-old local woman. “The investigation into the blast is underway, several expertises will be conducted,” the source said. The type and the yield of the bomb are under investigation.

The Wednesday blast is already the fourth explosion for the past four months, a source in the Sochi police department said. On April 4, two people were injured in the Lazarevskoye district of the city as a result of the careless handling with a stun grenade. A policeman received hand and stomach injuries during the examination of a suspicious handbag in the settlement of Lazarevskoye on April 7. A 47-year-old man was killed in the blast in the same Lazarevskoye district on June 9.

The Sochi police urge residents and guests of the city to call police, if they find suspicious objects not trying to unarm them on their own.
