June 27, 2008 On June 19, the Georgian Business Development Center (GBDC), the USAID funded small and medium business support project, the OSCE Mission to Georgia and Elit Electronics held a press conference about the “Educational and Job Placement Forum.” This forum is held annually, and by the means of the event, students and other youngsters have the ability to meet potential recruiters and learn about the vacancies, training programs and other programs provided by them. The forum gives the students a great opportunity to explore a range of potential careers, and get a taste of what each would entail. The forum is also benefitial for the employers, as it gives them the chance to scoop up the best and brightest students, and get them interested in their companies and organizations from the word go. All students and unemployed youngsters are eligible to participate in the Education and Job Placement Forum 2008, as well as the local and international educational institutions, local and international business organizations, banks, micro financing institutions, international, diplomatic and public organizations and governmental institutions. Earlier, the program was held in Batumi by the partnership of the USAID’s SME Support Project and then in Samtskhe-Javakheti by the partnership of the USAID’s SME Support Project and the OSCE Mission to Georgia. The forum is to be held in the regions as well as Tbilisi. On June 28, the forum will visit Batumi, the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and will be held at the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. It will continue on July 5, in Akhaltsikhe, Samtskhe-Javakheti Region, at the Akhaltsikhe State Institute. And finally, on September 27-28, the forum will come to Tbilisi, and will be held at the Tbilisi State University. The event is sponsored by ‘Elite Electronics’, as well as TBC Bank, the Georgian-American University, Iv.
