“Russia aspires to control the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline by the violating stability in Georgia”, said Zbigniew Brzezinski, former US National Security Adviser at the Senate hearings. He said the United States recently observed Russia’s aspirations to get control over the BTC. “If the Government of Georgia loses its stability, access of the West to Baku and Caspian basin will be restricted”. Brzezinski estimated Russia’s move in the Eurasian energy market and said Moscow intended to monopolize this market fully. “Moscow is using for that all political and economic levers it gets, including deprivation of European and Baltic countries from the energy vectors. Russia doesn’t make secret its intentions to isolate Central Asia from the world economy.” Brzezinski proposed to expand access of Western countries to the Central Asian energy resources and to construct alternative pipeline network against Russia’s moves. |
