Georgian president visited Bacteriological Institute of Georgia where the 85-th anniversary of the pharmaceutical center was marked.

Mikheil Saakashvili said he was proud of Georgia's intellectual potential, science and education. ''Georgia has no gas, no fuel, but our intellectual 'deposit', education and science is the main priority and value of our people,'' president announced. Georgian Bacterio-phage is the unique institute in the world and is still popular, because phages produced here has saved lives of many people. President said he was one of them.

The institute is hosting the international conference of microbiology and virusology of Giorgi Eliava, in which over 100 representatives from 30 states are participating. The successor of the phage discoverer is also in Tbilisi. The institute has been operating for 85 years.
