Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili visited Kutaisi, administrative capital of Georgia’s Imereti region. He observed reconstruction works underway at the Bagrati Church in proximity to Kutaisi.

In his address to Georgian people, Saakashvili summoned various political parties to find a common language for the sake of Georgia’s welfare, further economic development and bright future. “Georgia’s strength is in unity,” he claimed.

Saakashvili talked about projects that aim at reduction of poverty and employment opportunities. He also highlighted on integration perspectives into European structures and especially with the NATO. “All preconditions exist for that,” Saakashvili said.

Georgia’s president also commented on parliamentary elections. “I am sure Georgian people will make the choice on building rather than destruction and confrontation,” he said.

He also emphasized on the importance of holding fair and democratic elections and called on opponents to cooperate with that regard. “I am sure that the Georgian people will vote for the worthy on May 21 and I am ready to respect their choice,” Saakashvili stated.
