President Saakashvili’s visit, his first to Washington since President Obama’s inauguration, marks an important opportunity for the government of Georgia to strengthen its cooperation with the U.S. administration. The President’s visit also comes at an important time in Georgia as the country gears up for municipal elections, which will have important consequences on its domestic political scene. President Saakashvili will outline his government’s efforts to advance democratic and economic reforms to strengthen Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and its cooperation with the United States and Europe.
