Georgia and the Republic of Liberia signed a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic and consular relations.

According to the joint communiqué, Georgia and Liberia will develop bilateral relations based on the principles enshrined in the UN Charter, including the principles of territorial integrity and equal sovereignty.

Since the beginning of 2010 it is eighth country with whom that Georgia establishes diplomatic relations. Georgia has also established diplomatic relations with Botswana, Brunei, Dominican Republic, Cape Verde, Marshall Islands, Peru and Sant Lucia.

In a joint letter the sides informed H.E. Ban-ki Moon, UN Secretary General on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The communiqué was signed by H.E. Ambassador Mrs. Marjon Kamara, Permannet Representative of Liberia to the United Nations and from the Georgian side by H.E. Ambassador Alexander Lomaia, Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations.

Georgia has established diplomatic relations with 130 states among the 191 member states of the United Nations.
